Fr. Peter Heers Received into Romanian Metropolia
FEBRUARY 10, 2026 — Archpriest Peter Heers has been received into the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas under Metr. Nicolae of Chicago.
In a letter dated January 31, 2026, Metr. Nicolae accepted Fr. Peter's application to join the jurisdiction, formalizing his transfer and assignment within the Metropolia.
This followed a release from his prior jurisdiction. On February 4, 2026, Metr. Seraphim of Piraeus issued a letter stating there was "no spiritual obstacle" preventing Fr. Peter from serving as a priest in the Orthodox Church.
Fr. Peter was ordained in the Church of Greece by Metr. Seraphim in 2003. In a 2023 communiqué, the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States stated that Fr. Peter did not fall under any of their jurisdictions. This is because Fr. Peter remained under Metr. Seraphim's omophorion.
Fr. Peter Heers is best known for founding Orthodox Ethos, a platform focused on promoting the Orthodox tradition through videos, books, and other media.
