YONKERS, NY — On February 15, His Eminence Metr. Saba celebrated the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy at Virgin Mary Church, where he ordained seminarian Ibrahim Aldaiob to the holy diaconate.

Metr. Saba was welcomed by parish pastor Archpriest Dimitri Darwish, Archdiocese Chancellor Archdeacon Emile Sayegh, visiting clergy, and the faithful. The Church commemorated Meatfare Sunday—the Sunday of the Last Judgment—with the Gospel reading from Matthew 25:31–46 emphasizing acts of mercy and love.

In his sermon, the hierarch urged generosity not only through material giving, but also through kindness, encouragement, and compassion. “The more I grow myself spiritually, the more I give myself to God and to others,” he said.

During the service, Ibrahim Aldaiob was ordained to the diaconate and will continue his studies at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Saba concluded his Texas visits with ordinations in Houston.
