Glenview Parish Hosts Storytelling and Faith Lenten Event

GLENVIEW, IL — Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church will host a Lenten Retreat March 6–8, 2026, featuring guest speaker Fr. Sergius Halvorsen, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Homiletics and Rhetoric at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary. The retreat is sponsored by the parish’s Creticos Memorial Lectures.
The weekend will focus on “Faith Based Storytelling: Sharing the Good News through the Sacred Art of Narrative.” Services and presentations include the Akathistos/Salutations Service, Great Vespers, and the Sunday Divine Liturgy, at which Fr. Halvorsen will serve as homilist. Lectures will address themes such as “Faith Made Perfect in Weakness” and evangelization through personal narrative.
Fr. Halvorsen serves as a priest of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) and is attached to Holy Transfiguration Church. The retreat is free and open to the public, though advance registration is required for meal planning by February 27.
