Orthodox Summer Camp Funding Expanded in Chicago Diocese
The OCA Diocese of the Midwest expands youth-camp scholarships to support wider participation in Orthodox summer programs.
CHICAGO, IL — The Diocese of the Midwest has announced the continuation of its scholarship program for Orthodox Summer Camps and Youth Conferences, supported by contributions to the Archbishop Job Memorial Fund and ongoing diocesan funding. The program aims to reduce financial barriers for families seeking to enroll their children in diocesan youth programs during the 2026 summer season.
According to the announcement, scholarships will be awarded based on the number of applicants and the cost of individual camps or conferences. Payments will be made directly from the diocese to participating camps, and families will be notified once funds have been disbursed. Officials emphasized that standard camp registration procedures through local deaneries remain unchanged.
To access assistance, families must submit a diocesan scholarship application form in addition to regular registration materials. The diocese encouraged early submission to ensure consideration as funds are distributed.
The scholarship application can be found here and is due no later than May 31.
Previously, the UOJ reported that the Order of St. Ignatius funded summer camp scholarships.
