New baptisms and renewed iconography marked a joyful Paschal celebration in Buenos Aires.

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA — On April 12, 2026, the Feast of the Resurrection of the Lord, Abp. Stefan Jovanovic and Hieromonk David (Janketic) celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, joined by Hieromonk Nektarios (Milosevic), the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Argentina, Mr. Dejan Blagojevich, and a large number of faithful.

The celebration was especially marked by the reception of Holy Communion by thirteen newly baptized members—ten adults and three children, all Argentines—who had entered the Church the previous day on Holy Saturday after completing catechetical instruction. Their baptisms were described as a major moment of joy for the cathedral community.

During the service, greetings were conveyed from Bp. Kirill of Buenos Aires and South and Central America, followed by the reading of the Paschal letter of Patr. Porphyrios of Serbia. The liturgy was the first celebrated in the cathedral following the completion of new frescoes finished in March.

After the service, a festive meal was held in the cathedral hall, where benefactors Mr. Marcelo Paz and the Friolim group were honored for their support of the cathedral. Faithful exchanged Paschal greetings and traditional eggs, joyfully proclaiming, “Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!”

Previously, the UOJ reported that a Bozeman parish celebrated 10 baptisms and received 15 new catechumens.
