Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Argentina Gains New Iconography
Montenegrin iconographers are adorning Buenos Aires’ Serbian Orthodox Cathedral with intricate frescoes ahead of March 10 completion.
BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA — Iconographers from Montenegro are completing frescoes in the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Argentina’s capital, with work scheduled through March 10, the Diocese of Buenos Aires, South America, and Central America reported.
Parishioners were invited to view the progress on Sunday following the Divine Liturgy and a procession marking the feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy. The event highlighted the growing beauty of the cathedral’s interior, as artists continue painting the walls with traditional Orthodox iconography.
A video capturing the beautiful designs now adorning the cathedral walls showcases centuries of iconographic tradition brought to life by the Montenegrin team. The project highlights the ongoing cultural and spiritual exchange within the Orthodox community in South America.
