Eight catechumens were baptized in Ho Chi Minh City after completing long preparation.

HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM — On March 28, 2026, the Sacrament of Baptism was celebrated at the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God Parish, where eight catechumens were received into the Orthodox Church after completing a lengthy period of instruction and preparation.

The newly baptized were given the Christian names Gabriel, Christopher, Michael, Benjamin, Luke, George, Timothy, and Nicephorus. Their reception marked a significant milestone for the small but growing parish community in Vietnam, reflecting continued missionary and catechetical efforts in the region.

The baptisms followed an extended catechumenate, during which the candidates were prepared for entry into the life of the Church through teaching, prayer, and pastoral guidance. Parish faithful and clergy expressed joy at the new members joining the Church of Christ and offered prayers for their spiritual growth and perseverance in the Orthodox faith.

Previously, the UOJ reported that a wave of conversions continued with mass baptisms in Houston.
