Dr. David Ford to Present Talk on St. John Chrysostom
A leading Orthodox scholar will offer an evening exploration of St. John Chrysostom’s life, writings, and spiritual legacy.
ANCHORAGE, AK — St. Innocent Russian Orthodox Cathedral has announced an upcoming lecture exploring the life and teachings of one of Christianity’s most influential Church Fathers. The event, titled “Glimpses into the Life and Wisdom of St. John Chrysostom,” is scheduled for June 12, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The presentation will be delivered by Dr. David C. Ford, professor of Church History at St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary. Ford is widely known for his scholarship on St. John Chrysostom, the fourth-century Archbishop of Constantinople whose writings and sermons continue to shape Orthodox Christian thought and worship.
According to the cathedral, Ford has authored five books featuring his translations of St. John Chrysostom’s works. These include the saint’s 17 letters written during exile to St. Olympia the Deaconess, nine sermons delivered during pivotal moments of his life, and the three-volume “Sing to Your Soul” series. The latter compiles notable passages from St. John Chrysostom’s writings on roughly 60 themes connected to Christian living and spiritual growth.
Organizers said the lecture will provide attendees with insights into both the historical life and enduring wisdom of St. John Chrysostom. Questions about the event may be directed to Fr. Thomas Rivas [email protected].
