Bozeman Parish Celebrates 10 Baptisms, 15 New Catechumens
A growing Bozeman parish welcomed 25 new faithful in one weekend and now counts 40 catechumens.
BOZEMAN, MT — Last weekend marked a milestone for St. Anthony the Great Orthodox Church, an Orthodox Church in America (OCA) parish that celebrated significant growth in its community.
According to the parish, 10 people were received into the Church through Baptism and Chrismation on Saturday, while another 15 were enrolled in the catechumenate on Sunday. The parish bulletin for February 14–22 lists a total of 40 catechumens currently preparing to enter the Church. “It’s blessedly crowded, and we are ready for our new temple,” the community shared.
The parish traces its roots to the 1990s, when visiting clergy served local faithful who previously traveled to Billings or Butte for services. Formally recognized as a mission in 1999, the community purchased land west of Bozeman and built its first worship space in 2014. In 2017, it became a full parish. Since 2013, it has been led by Fr. David Morrison.
Previously, the UOJ reported that a mass baptism was celebrated at an Alexandria Patriarchate mission in Tanzania.
