Bp. Jerome Marks 50 Years in Priesthood on Bright Saturday
Bp. Jerome’s golden priesthood anniversary centered on Paschal worship and clerical gratitude.
MAHOPAC, NY — On Bright Saturday, April 18, 2026, Bp. Jerome (Shaw) celebrated the Paschal Divine Liturgy at Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage, marking the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood, first received on April 18, 1976 at St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ.
Concelebrating were Archpriests Elias Gorsky and George Temidis, Protodeacon Alexey Pnev, and Dcns. Nicholas Ilyin, David Dutkanicz, Konstantin Aleshin, and Theodotus Conrad, joining parish clergy for the festal service.
Following the Liturgy, clergy and faithful offered congratulations, and a letter from Metr. Nicholas was read. A Paschal luncheon in the parish hall followed, where Bp. Jerome spoke briefly on the qualities of an ideal clergyman. The celebration highlighted gratitude for decades of pastoral service and the continuity of parish life within the broader Russian Orthodox tradition in North America and enduring clerical witness celebrated locally.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Patriarch Kirill marked 50 years in the episcopacy.
