Metr. Tikhon led a full Paschal celebration in Washington, highlighting baptism, ordinations, and the enduring reality of the Resurrection.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Holy Week, Pascha, and Bright Saturday services were celebrated at Orthodox Church in America’s St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, where His Beatitude Metr. Tikhon presided over the full cycle of Paschal liturgies beginning on Holy Monday.

Throughout the week, Metr. Tikhon was joined by clergy including Archpriest Alessandro Margheritino, Archpriest David Bozeman, and Archpriest Valery Shemchuk. The services commemorated the Passion, Burial, and Resurrection of Christ, drawing hundreds of faithful and visitors to the cathedral for the Feast of Feasts. On Holy Thursday, Rdr. John Hartman was ordained to the subdiaconate, marking a significant moment in the cathedral’s Holy Week observance.

On Holy Saturday, ten catechumens were received into the Church through Baptism and Chrismation before the Vesperal Divine Liturgy. In his Paschal message, Metr. Tikhon emphasized that the Resurrection is not only a historical event but the ongoing life of the Church, proclaiming Christ’s victory over death amid present trials.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Tikhon proclaimed the timeless power of Pascha in his 2026 message.
