Uncut Mountain Press Announces First English St. Athanasios of Paros Trilogy
A major English trilogy of St. Athanasios of Paros brings Athonite responses to Enlightenment thought into print for the first time.
FLORENCE, AZ — A three-volume English translation of writings by St. Athanasios of Paros (1721–1813), a prominent figure among the Kollyvades Fathers of Mt. Athos, is now available for pre-order from Uncut Mountain Press ahead of its scheduled June release.
The set includes A Defense of the Christian Faith, On the True Philosophy, and Antidote to Atheism, marking the first complete English publication of these works. Written in response to the intellectual currents of the European Enlightenment and the French Revolution, the texts engage questions of human knowledge, Christian doctrine, and emerging secular thought.
St. Athanasios, an Athonite ascetic and former professor, draws extensively on Scripture and the Church Fathers, addressing topics such as the Divinity of Christ, the Resurrection, and the spiritual significance of fasting. The final volume directly confronts atheism as it appeared in European philosophy. Each book features an introduction by the late Fr. George D. Metallinos, former dean of the School of Theology at the University of Athens.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Uncut Mountain Press announced the release of The True Story of the Romanov Family.
