Abp. Mark to Lecture on New Testament Canon in Pennsylvania

MECHANICSBURG, PA — Abp. Mark Maymon will deliver a lecture titled “The Formation of the New Testament Canon” during his upcoming archpastoral visit to Holy Apostles Orthodox Church on March 21, 2026.

The presentation will take place following Great Vespers at 5:00 p.m. and will focus on the historical development of the New Testament canon and the process by which the early Church recognized the sacred writings received as Scripture.

According to the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania media office, the lecture will examine the role of apostolic tradition, liturgical use, and the witness of the faithful in discerning and preserving the books of the New Testament within the life of the Church. Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion following the presentation.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Abp. Mark of Philadelphia celebrated the 21st anniversary of his consecration.
