CEDAR PARK, TX — Metr. Saba visited several parishes in the Austin, Texas, area from March 6–8, following a January winter storm that delayed the planned archpastoral trip.
On Friday, March 6, the hierarch made his first-ever visit to St. John the Forerunner Orthodox Church, where he was welcomed by clergy and parishioners. He was joined by Archimandrite Calinic Berger, Archpriest David Barr, and Archdeacon Elias Nicolas, along with visiting clergy from the region.
During the visit, the community prayed Little Compline with the second stasis of the Akathist Hymn, with Metr. Saba chanting portions of the service. The hierarch also tonsured parishioner Demetry Zozuyla as a reader.
Following the service, Metr. Saba addressed the faithful, reflecting on the humility of the Mother of God and encouraging believers to entrust their lives to Christ. He also answered questions from parishioners and distributed crosses and icon cards to the children in attendance.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Saba explored the spiritual depth of the Orthodox liturgy.
