SEATTLE, WA — The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco has congratulated Theodore “Theo” Angelis of Seattle on his appointment to the Washington State Supreme Court. Bob Ferguson, governor of Washington State, announced March 9 that Angelis will succeed retiring Justice Barbara Madsen later this spring.
Angelis, the son of Fr. John Angelis and Presvytera Anna Angelis, grew up actively involved in Church life and youth ministries. Today he remains engaged in parish service at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, where he has served on the Parish Council, Endowment Board, and as a Sunday School teacher.
Within the Metropolis, Angelis has also served as an Advocate and member of the Metropolis Council. In 2022, he was invested as an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate with the Offikion of Ekdikos.
Professionally, Angelis brings more than two decades of legal experience, including work as a partner at K&L Gates. Metr. Gerasimos of San Francisco praised his life of faith, integrity, and service.
Previously, the UOJ reported that a federal court blocked a Washington law requiring priests to break the confessional seal.
