BROOKLINE, MA — Students and staff at Hellenic College Holy Cross gathered on Saturday, March 28, for a Lenten service project organized by the Office of Student Life and the Student Government Association in partnership with Rise Against Hunger. The initiative brought together more than 70 participants in the Pappas Gymnasium to support global hunger relief efforts.

Volunteers worked efficiently to package over 14,000 meals for schoolchildren in need around the world, surpassing both their goal and last year’s total of 10,000 meals. The event began with a prayer offered by Fr. Bartholomew Mercado, followed by a short presentation from Rise Against Hunger coordinators outlining the impact of their mission.

Organizers credited the success of the effort to the collaboration of student leaders, staff, volunteers, and the HCHC events and grounds teams, whose coordinated work made the service project both impactful and memorable.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Saba called the faithful to support Food for Hungry People.
