ANCHORAGE, AK — On Sunday, March 29th, the Fifth Sunday of Great Lent and the Sunday of St. Mary of Egypt, Abp. Alexei celebrated the Divine Liturgy and his namesday with the faithful at St. Innocent Russian Orthodox Cathedral.

In his homily, Abp. Alexei reflected on the spiritual witness of St. Mary of Egypt and St. Alexei the Man of God, noting that despite their outwardly different lives, both exemplify repentance, humility, and hidden holiness. He emphasized that sanctity is not bound by circumstance but is cultivated through devotion to Christ, whether in solitude or quiet sacrifice.

Following the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Thomas Rivas presented the archbishop with an altar cross and a travel reliquary containing a relic of St. Arrsamquq (Olga). In return, His Eminence gifted the Pokrov Sisterhood a handwritten icon of the same saint, encouraging their continued service.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Abp. Alexei led a Lenten retreat in Alaska.
