NYACK, NY — On Thursday, April 2, Metr. Nicholas of Eastern America & New York officiated the funeral of Dn. Andrei Antchoutine, a cleric of Holy Virgin Intercession Church in Glen Cove, NY, who reposed suddenly on March 30. The service took place at Holy Protection Church in Nyack, NY, and drew a full congregation, with many parishioners standing outside and in the parish hall.

Before the funeral, Metr. Nicholas offered condolences to the family, comparing their grief to that of Righteous Martha and Mary mourning Lazarus, whose resurrection will be commemorated during the upcoming Pascha. He reflected on Dn. Andrei’s devotion to the Church, his family, and his vibrant spirit. The service was concelebrated by numerous diocesan and visiting clergy, while the choir, directed by the departed’s brother, Rdr. Peter Antchoutine, sang with profound compunction.

Following the Last Kiss, Dn. Andrei was escorted in procession to Novo-Diveevo Convent, where he was interred beside his maternal grandfather, Archpriest Alexey Ohotin (+2013). A memorial repast followed in the parish hall.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Patr. Ilia of Georgia fell asleep in the Lord.
