IOCC Support Reaches Displaced Gaza Households

GAZA CITY — After more than a year and a half of war and displacement, a father of seven in Gaza says emergency humanitarian assistance has brought his family much-needed relief and dignity amid severe daily hardship.

According to International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), Bassam — whose real name has been withheld for safety reasons — is a day laborer currently living with his wife and seven children in a crowded displacement shelter. With infants and family members living with disabilities, he says survival has become increasingly difficult as shortages of food, hygiene supplies, and basic necessities continue across the region.

“The crisis has left my family exhausted and unable to secure basic necessities, increasing the emotional strain on all of us,” Bassam said.

Through an emergency support project for displaced families in Gaza City organized by IOCC, Bassam’s family received food parcels and hygiene kits tailored to their specific health needs.

He said he learned about the assistance through St. Porphyrios Monastery, which helped connect his family to the program.

“This assistance gave us reassurance, dignity, and hope,” Bassam said.

Aid workers say that for displaced families like Bassam’s, humanitarian support is more than temporary relief — it is a vital source of stability during a prolonged and devastating crisis.
