Renovations Improve Conditions at Georgian Care Facility

TERJOLA, GEORGIA — Renovations at the Dzevri Residential Care Facility are improving daily life for dozens of vulnerable residents after long-standing sanitation issues were addressed through a major infrastructure project.

The facility, home to 65 adults with special needs, had faced serious health and safety concerns as its sanitation units deteriorated beyond repair. Through the “Improving the Living Conditions of the Vulnerable Population in Western Georgia” initiative, the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) funded and carried out comprehensive upgrades.

Work included removing damaged flooring and walls, installing waterproofing systems, and modernizing drainage and electrical infrastructure. New ceilings, sanitary fixtures, and secure doors were also added, transforming the once-failing facilities into clean, functional spaces that better support residents’ needs.

Previously, the UOJ reported that emergency relief helped a Syrian family recover after an attack.
