Orthodox Church Damaged in Russian Strike in Ukraine

VILNIANSK, UKRAINE — An Orthodox church was damaged on May 4, 2026, following a Russian attack on the city of Vilniansk, according to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church's (UOC) Information and Education Department reported.

A photograph published online shows significant damage to the St. Volodymyr Church, including a damaged roof and façade, with fire breaking out in nearby areas.

In addition to the church, a trade pavilion and a private house were destroyed in the city. One person was killed and another was wounded.

Previously, the UOJ reported that strikes damaged St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Tehran.
