SAN FRANCISCO — The Missions and Evangelism Ministry of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco will host a free online presentation titled “America as a Mission Field: What Is the Gospel?” on June 9, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. PST via Zoom. Organizers say the 90-minute session is part of an ongoing effort to explore how Orthodox Christianity can be shared in contemporary American society.

The event will feature Fr. Andrew Jarmus and Fr. Christian Siskos, who will discuss evangelism, the meaning of the Gospel, and the challenges of presenting Orthodoxy within what organizers described as a fragmented and secular culture. The session is open to clergy, parish leaders, and anyone interested in Orthodox Christian outreach.

According to the announcement, discussion topics will include whether America should be viewed as a mission field, what the Orthodox Church uniquely offers American society, and practical approaches for local parish evangelism. Attendees will also be invited to participate in a question-and-answer session.

Fr. Andrew serves as dean of St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral and is known for his social-media outreach ministry. Fr. Christian serves at St. Mark Greek Orthodox Church and leads the online ministry Noetic Spring.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Saba named Fr. James Purdie for Antiochian missions efforts.
