Donetsk region had the first day of Cross Procession-2016

On 3 July 2016 All-Ukrainian Cross Procession of peace, love, and prayer for Ukraine left the Holy Assumption Sviatogorsk Lavra. On its first day the participants visited two villages where the Lavra’s sketes are located. It is reported by the Lavra’s site.

Two hours later the Procession reached Sviatogorsk Lavra’s skete in Bogorodichnoye village, and when the moleben service finished, the Cross Procession made for Dolina village where Lavra’s Saint George skete is being constructed. During the Procession pilgrims were singing Acathistos to the Holy Godmother and made several pit-stops.

At the outskirts of Dolina village, on the mass grave of soldiers who died in the years of the Great Patriotic War, there was served a short lity for the dead.

From the skete in vlg. Dolina a local cross procession with church banners and icons came from the opposite direction to the Cross Procession, led by the spiritual father of St. George skete archimandrite Feofan, bursar of Sviatogorsk Lavra. Participants of both Cross processions made a bow to each other and went together to the skete. The miraculous icon of Godmother was put in the yard before the church and served a moleben in front of it. During the moleben prayer all pilgrims could kiss the icon, get anointed with the icon’s holy oint, and have a trapeze. All in all, there were about 300 pilgrims from the Cross Procession who had come to the skete.

On 4th of July morning All-Ukrainian Cross Procession headed via vlg. Kamenka for Izium city where the meeting is scheduled with clerics of Kharkiv diocese.

It will be reminded that All-Ukrainian Cross Procession of peace, love, and prayer for Ukraine left the Holy Assumption Sviatogorsk Lavra on 3 July.
