Kiev-Pechersk Lavra meets Athos icons and honors the Holy Princess Olga (VIDEO)
July 24, on the Memory Day of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Princess Olga, Metropolitan Onufriy of Kiev and All Ukraine celebrated the Divine Liturgy in front of the Dormition Cathedral of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Before the service, the ancient Orthodox Monastery meets the holy icons which arrived in Ukraine from Mount Athos.
Before the start of the service at the Holy Gate of the Monastery a solemn meeting of the holy icons "Blessing of the Holy Mountain Athos" and of St. Anthony of the Caves was held. The icons were delivered to Ukraine by the official delegation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, headed by the Primate.
After the reading of the Holy Gospel, His Beatitude addressed the large congregation with a homily. During the service, the augmented prayer for peace in Ukraine was raised. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy congratulated the congregation on Sunday and the memory of the Holy Princess Olga and blessed everyone.
Recall, an international exhibition about the history of the Holy Mountain "Journey to Mount Athos" with the presentation of thematic book editions is opened at 16.00 at the Refectory Church of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
