Future in your hands: Priests of UOC revive Volyn forest

19 senior priests of UOC churchers of the Kolki deanery of the Volyn diocese helped the forest guards of the local forestry to plant a forest, reports the press service of the Volyn Regional Administration of Forestry and Hunting.

In the framework of the ecological action "The future of the forest – in your hands" and with the direct participation of the dean, Archpriest Peter Bugaychuk, the priests planted seedlings of the future forest in the Kolki forestry.

The work began with a prayer followed by the instruction given by the director of the Kolki forestry Alexander Chernishin. The priests and foresters worked for several hours without stopping for rest, and as a result, 14 seedlings of pine were planted on an area of 1.8 hectares.

"It is symbolic that the action took place at a time when Orthodox Christians are experiencing their spiritual spring, looking forward to the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ," writes the site.

Funds raised from planting crops will be sent to support the Orthodox children's camp "Rodnik", which operates in the Kolki deanery.
