Met. Tikhon Sends Message to the Faithful on the Great Feast of Nativity
Met. Tikhon of the OCA reminds the faithful that Christ’s birth and all of history unfold through God’s providence for humanity’s salvation.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Met. Tikhon of All America and Canada issued a Nativity message to the clergy, monastics, and faithful of the Orthodox Church in America, reflecting on the divine timing of Christ’s birth. Quoting St. Germanus of Constantinople, the Primate noted that Caesar’s decree for the first census was providential, allowing the eternal kingdom of Christ to be made manifest.
Met. Tikhon highlighted the dual role of Roman authority in salvation history: as a vehicle for spreading the Gospel and, ultimately, as an instrument of Christ’s Passion. Drawing parallels between the reign of Rome and the coming of Christ, he emphasized that all of history unfolds for the sake of humanity, preparing the way for God’s Incarnation.
The primate encouraged the faithful to embrace Christ in every circumstance, rejoicing in his Nativity and recognizing God’s providence in every event of life.
Christ is born! Glorify Him!
Previously, the UOJ reported that Met. Tikhon called the faithful to live Holy Tradition during the Nativity Fast.
