Parubiy: Martial law will not halt the creation of SLC
Spokesman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrey Parubiy
Even the imposition of martial law in Ukraine will not stop the process of creating the Single Local Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Verkhovna Rada's spokesman Andrey Parubiy said during the broadcast of an extraordinary Parliament’s meeting.
“I want to officially announce that no matter what decision might be taken, this will not prevent our resolution regarding the creation of the Local Ukrainian Orthodox Church,” said Parubiy.
He called on the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew to support this idea and guaranteed full security during its implementation.
Patriarch Bartholomew appealed to the Romanian Church to back granting autocephaly to the Church in Ukraine, which has not yet announced its position.
