Kherson eparchy reaffirms its loyalty to the UOC

Despite the enormous pressure in the media and by the authorities, several dioceses at once expressed their loyalty and support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Among them are believers of Kherson, Odessa, Severodonetsk, Ovruch, and Baltic eparchies, informs the Information and Education Department.

On January 27, at a meeting of the community of the Holy Spirit Cathedral of Kherson city, under the leadership of Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavria, believers unanimously expressed their support for the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy.

On the same day, a meeting was held in the Holy Trinity Church of the village of Mateiki of Manevichi district of Volyn region. “All of us, the community of our village and I, the rector of the church, testify that we are Ukrainians, we love our country, we pray for our government and army, and we pay tribute to everything that relates to our statehood, but long as it concerns God, we give to God,” priest Vladimir Sergiychuk, rector of the church, wrote on his Facebook page.

The believers of town Pervomayskoye, Ovruch district, Zhitomir region, as well as parishioners of the Holy Assumption Cathedral in the city of Balta, the church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the city of Podolsk, Odessa region, St. George’s Cathedral, as well as town Kamyshevakha in Popasnaya district, Lugansk region, showed unanimously the desire to remain with the UOC.

In the meantime, pressure continues against the parishioners on the part of the radicals who are trying to force believers to pass to the OCU by violent means.
