Five new metropolitans and four archbishops emerge in the UOC

On August 17, 2019, on the Anniversary Day Enthronement of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, the festive Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Assumption Cathedral of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.

During the service, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry elevated five archbishops of the UOC to the rank of metropolitan, while four bishops were ordained as archbishops, the Information and Education Department announced.

In particular, Archbishops Alipy (Kozoliy) of Dzhankoye and Razdolnoye, Nikodim (Baranovsky) of Severodonetsk and Starobelsk, Filaret (Kucherov) of Lvov and Galicia, Clement (Vecheria) of Nezhin and Priluki, and Varsonofy (Stoliar) of Vinnitsa and Bar were elevated to the rank of metropolitan.

Bishop Alexy (Shpakov) of Voznesensk and Pervomaisk, Bishop Anthony (Kripak) of Putivl, Bishop Bogolep (Goncharenko) of Alexandria and Svetlovodsk, and Bishop Nathanael (Krikota) of Volyn and Lutsk was elevated to the rank of archbishop.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that celebrations in honor of 5-year anniversary of enthronement of the Primate of the UOC were held in the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.
