Petro Poroshenko on his Facebook page said that “the Church plays an important role in the victory of Ukraine. And it's not just spirituality.”
In his opinion, in addition to “spirituality,” the Church should deal with the “aggression of the Russian world since the Ukrainian Church relies on Ukrainian roots, develops the Ukrainian tradition and strengthens our ability to resist hostile influences and propaganda.”
At the same time, an important role, according to Poroshenko, is "church diplomacy, which helps our allies better understand Ukraine, debunk the lies that Russia tells about us, and support Ukraine."
“Therefore, today I, together with Ukrainian believers of the UGCC, am here in Rome at the Episcopal Liturgy on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the consecration of the St. Sophia Cathedral in Rome,” Poroshenko resumed.
We recall that Petro Proshenko, while in Rome at a service in the St. Sophia Cathedral of the UGCC, said that the Tomos was received largely thanks to the prayers of the Uniates and "it is very important to unite our Churches".
