Patriarch Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Church will arrive on February 25 at the Primates’ Council in the capital of Jordan, Amman, Bishop Victor (Kotsaba) of Baryshevka reported on his telegram channel.

The UOC Bishop indicated that the decision on the participation of Patriarch Irinej in the Synaxis of Primates was made on January 30, 2020 at the Holy Synod of Bishops of the SOC. This was announced to Bishop Victor by the Primate of the Serbian Church at a personal meeting on the same day.

“Today the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church was held,” the Patriarch of the UOC quotes the words of the Patriarch. “We once again discussed and resolved to participate in the fraternal meeting of the Primates of the Local Churches in Jordan, which had been initiated by Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem. I hope to see your Metropolitan of Kiev, His Beatitude Onuphry, in Amman.”

The Synaxis will be held at the initiative of Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem and will be devoted to the "Ukrainian issue", as well as a number of other pressing problems World Orthodoxy is facing. So far representatives of the Jerusalem, Russian, Serbian, Romanian, Polish Churches, as well as the Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, have confirmed their participation in the Primates’ Council.
