On November 15, 2022, the Albanian Orthodox Church appealed to the Patriarchate of Constantinople with a request to convene a Council of Primates of the Local Orthodox Churches on the issue of recognition of the OCU, reports the Greek Romfea website.
The Albanian Church reminded the Patriarchate of Constantinople of the letter dated March 19, 2019, in which it was proposed to apply to the Ukrainian schismatics “the same procedure that led to the resolution of the Melitian schism by the First Ecumenical Council.”
The Synod of the Albanian Church, mentioning the need to resolve the issue of the procedure for granting autocephaly, continues to plead and proposes, “like other Orthodox Churches, to convene a Pan-Orthodox Synaxis, which in the Holy Spirit will resolve the ecclesiastical issue that causes anxiety among the Orthodox of the whole world.”
“The main conviction is that the Holy Eucharist, apostolic succession and synodality are the solid foundations of Orthodox unity, and that the peace and unity of Universal Orthodoxy is at stake,” the Albanian Church stressed.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the Albanian Church once again refused to recognize the OCU.
