By order of the authorities of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, additional quarantine restrictions have been introduced in the monastery since April 13, 2020, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.
Since April 5, access of believers to the territory of the Lavra has been prevented; disinfection is regularly carried out in the buildings. All residents have undergone a medical examination. Monks with health problems receive necessary medical care. Several monks are now on in-patient treatment in Kyiv hospital.
The introduction of additional quarantine restrictions was caused by a report by the Kyiv City State Administration, published on April 13 on the official website of the Regional State Administration, about a large number of detected cases of coronavirus among residents of the monastery. The total number of infected is specified.
As reported earlier, on April 12, 2020, the 73-year-old monk of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Archimandrite Niktariy (Kovalenko), died. In the hospital, where the elder received treatment, it was reported that death came from a severe form of pneumonia. The archimandrite was twice tested negative for the coronavirus.
The UOC Information and Information Department has reported the death of another monastery monk, who died on April 13. The circumstances of the death of the newly-deceased are still unknown.
