The famous Ukrainian boxer and parishioner of the UOC Vasily Lomachenko urged Ukrainians to support the petition to preserve the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The athlete posted an active link to the petition, published on the website of the President of Ukraine on April 27, 2020, on his Instagram.
We recall that petition No. 22/094164-ep, authored by Rodion Abramovich, calls for the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to be left in use by the UOC and reject petition No. 22/092966-ep on transferring the holy Monastery to the OCU as it “not only misleads the direct addressee – the President of Ukraine and those people who will support it, but is also aimed at inciting inter-confessional conflict on the basis of distorted facts and the author’s own speculations.”
Believers previously reported on social networks that due to incomprehensible technical problems they could not put their signatures on a petition to keep the Lavra in the UOC. These issues are currently resolved.
As of 15:00 on May 23, 14,805 people out of the required 25,000 signed a collective appeal. Signatures are collected within 90 days from the moment of its registration.
You can familiarize yourself with the full text of petition No. 22/094164-ep and support here.
As reported earlier, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky responded to the petition on the transfer of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to the OCU.
