Govt intends to move state holidays following calendar change in OCU & UGCC

The decision of the OCU and the UGCC to switch to a new calendar style challenges the authorities to move public holidays. This was stated by Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko on the air of the TV marathon, reports Interfax Religion.

"Today we talked to our fellow MPs about the fact that the decision of our Churches also presents challenges for us to change the official holidays," Tkachenko said.

He noted that relevant legislative documents will be drafted in the near future.

As reported, the OCU has called on the authorities to move state holidays after the switch to a new style.
