On June 5, 2023, the Archbishop of the Bologna RCC Matteo Zuppi will visit Kyiv to participate in a "special" mission to Ukraine initiated by Pope Francis. This was reported in the Vatican's press service.

The RCC noted that the main purpose of Cardinal Zuppi's visit to Kyiv is "easing the tension of the conflict in Ukraine."

“This is an initiative that aims primarily to listen carefully to the Ukrainian authorities about possible ways to achieve a just peace and support humane gestures that can help reduce tensions,” the Vatican said.

As reported by the UOJ, Pope Francis said that the Vatican is involved in a secret peace mission in Ukraine.
