On 8 June 2023, the regulations commission of the Kyiv Regional Council recommended putting to vote a draft law banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the region, reports the press service of the Regional Council on Facebook.

All members of the commission voted in favour of putting the issue of banning the UOC for a vote in the Regional Council.

The Regional Council noted that the issue of banning the UOC became one of the most important issues during today's work of the commission.

According to the head of the commission, Taras Kostin, the UOC should be banned because "it is impossible that a fierce enemy is killing Ukrainians while the Moscow Church continues its activity".

As reported, the Kyiv Сity Council banned the UOC from holding events outside temples.
