Chairman of the Synodal Information and Educational Department of the UOC, Metropolitan Clement (Vecheria), said that the UOC will continue celebrating Christmas on 7 January.
Despite the law signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky on moving Christmas celebrations to 25 December, the UOC will continue celebrating Christmas on 7 January.
In a comment to the “Strana” website, Metropolitan Clement said,"In Ukraine, 25 December has been a day off for several years."
"Every year, travelling through the streets of our cities on this day, there was almost nothing at all to remind us of the holiday," the hierarch noted.
He is sure that "it is absolutely guaranteed, and the vast majority of Ukrainians of the most different denominations will meet the future Nativity of Christ as they did before".
As reported, the Verkhovna Rada "cancelled" Christmas on 7 January.
