Hundreds of UOC believers come in procession to Pochaiv Lavra

On August 3, 2023, hundreds of parishioners of the UOC completed the procession with the cross to the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra from the cities of Ratne, Volyn region, and Korets, Rivne region. The video of the cross walkers was published by the Mir YouTube channel.

One of the priests of the UOC said that part of the believers left Volhynia in a cross procession on July 27 from, another 12 pilgrims from Rivne region began their prayerful journey on July 31.

The published footage features that there are both children, young and elderly parishioners among the pilgrims.

At the end of the procession, the believers prayed on the Pochaiv Hill for peace in Ukraine and Ukrainian soldiers.

The press service of the Rivne diocese noted that the procession was traditionally accompanied by the Korets icon of the Mother of God "Guide of Sinners".

“This year, the participants in a religious procession traveled part of the road in cars, and part of it on foot. Local residents also joined it along the way,” the diocese said.

All celebrations on the occasion of the transfer of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God to the Holy Mountain will take place in the Pochaiv Lavra on August 5.

As the UOJ reported, in the Rivne region, “activists” barricaded the road to hinder the cross procession walking to Pochaiv.
