The court rubber-stamps the eviction of monks from the Lavra

The Economic Court satisfied the claim of the reserve against the monastery and allowed the expulsion of the monks from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, the lawyer of the Lavra, said in his telegram channel.

“The court actually committed lawlessness by giving the nod to the eviction of monks from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra,” the lawyer said. “During the trial, everyone witnessed flagrant violations of the law by the court, which gives grounds to think that the court is not independent in making decisions.”

The lawyer said that the court did not involve the monks in consideration of the case, which is a gross violation.

According to him, "the court was given a specific task and a specific deadline – it was today that the specified decision was to be made."

And we understand why this is happening. Today, the reserve, without waiting for the court decision to come into force, began to restrict the access of believers to the territory of the Lavra,” the lawyer noted.

He recalled that the decision of the court comes into force only after its consideration in the appellate instance.

“We will look forward to the full text of the decision in order to see what arguments the judge was guided by when making this decision. And we will file an appeal,” the lawyer concluded.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to the lawyer, the reserve confirmed its intention to expel the monks from the Lavra.
