Vandal damages icon of Saviour in St. Agapitus of Caves Church
On August 13, 2023, during the Divine Liturgy, an unknown man entered the church of St. Agapitus of the Kyiv Caves and hit the icon of the Saviour with a stone twice, shattering the glass of the icon case, reports news.church.ua.
The believers managed to stop the perpetrator, after which he was detained by the police.
An investigative-operational group was called to the scene. Law enforcement officers recorded the testimonies of eyewitnesses, and the monastery's brethren filed a statement regarding the commission of the crime.
As previously reported, a video of the service in the sealed building of the Lavra was shared online.
