The Ukrainian authorities aim to unite the OCU and the UGCC. This was stated on Facebook by the "Eurosolidarity" MP Mykola Kniazhytsky, the author of one of the bills to ban the UOC.
Arguing with an employee of the parliamentary newspaper "Voice of Ukraine" Vasyl Chepurny, which of the OCU and UGCC is more independent, Kniazhytsky said that the authorities have plans to unite them.
“Both the OCU and the UGCC are headed by metropolitans. None of the Ukrainian churches has a patriarchal (status – Ed.). Our goal is to receive it for both churches and promote their unification,” said Kniazhytsky.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to Kniazhytsky, the pope made a mistake in addressing the Russians, but the enemies are still in the UOC.
