Synod of Serbian Church elects Locum Tenens of Patriarchal Throne

In connection with the repose of Patriarch Irinej, the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church took over the patriarchal duties and elected Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia as its head and locum tenens of the Patriarchal Throne until the election of a new Serbian Patriarch.
The decision was made in accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of the Serbian Orthodox Church, reports the official website of the Serbian Church.
Also, the Holy Synod of Bishops appointed His Grace Jovan, Bishop of Sumadija, as the administrator of the vacant Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovci, which was headed by the reposed Patriarch Irinej, in accordance with Article 70 of the Constitution of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
As reported, Metropolitan Anthony, the UOC Chancellor, said goodbye to the late Patriarch Irinej in Belgrade.
