Vadim Vasilchuk, the author of the project in the Kyiv Council on the “inspection of 74 churches” of the UOC, said that the shrines that were erected in Kyiv with violations could be transferred for use to other faiths. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

According to him, it is the court that will make a decision on each of the UOC churches in Kyiv that committed violations during construction.

Vasilchuk noted that no one would demolish the UOC churches in Kyiv, although the text of his project provides for the “demolition” of shrines being “unauthorized buildings.”

“The court will decide what to do with illegally built structures – to transfer them to the balance of the city, other religious organizations, or make another decision. Each case will be considered separately!” he wrote.

At the same time, the deputy of the Kyiv City Council did not specify how UOC churches, which have the status of architectural monuments, could be built "with violations": the Illinsky Church in Podil, the Intercession Church in Priorka, the Cross and Ascension Church in Vozdvyzhenka, the Resurrection Church ("Afghansky", − Ed.) near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and others.

As the UOJ reported, the Kyiv City Council is considering a project to demolish 74 UOC churches.
