Abp. Georgios on Met. Tychikos: Health Is One Thing, Synod Decisions Are Another

Holy Synod of Cyprus awaits Met. Tychikos’ return from Athens as decisions affirmed by Constantinople move forward.
NICOSIA — Abp. Georgios of Cyprus emphasized that the health of Met. Tychikos and the decisions of the Holy Synod are separate matters, as the Church of Cyprus continues to monitor developments in the case of the controversially deposed Metropolitan of Paphos.
According to reporting from Orthodoxia News Agency, Abp. Georgios confirmed that the Synod is awaiting Tychikos’ return from Athens, where he had been hospitalized and recently discharged. "If he does not come in a reasonable period of time, we will see what we will do,” His Beatitude said.
The Archbishop added that the Synod’s decisions to depose Met. Tychikos — ratified by the Patriarchate of Constantinople — will be implemented in full, noting that Met. Tychikos has been "given an alternative solution" and is expected to recover before deciding his next steps.
Previously, UOJ reported that Met. Tychikos had been hospitalized after leaving the Phanar.
