Abp. John Leads Sunday of Orthodoxy Service in Massachusetts
Abp. John of Albania used his first U.S. visit to underscore the importance of visible Orthodox unity.
BRAINTREE, MA — The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops concelebrated the Sunday of Orthodoxy on March 1, 2026 under the leadership of Abp. John of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania, whose presence set a tone of unity and vision. Presiding at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, the newly enthroned primate demonstrated pastoral warmth and theological clarity in his first visit to the United States since his 2025 election.
Concelebrating with hierarchs from many American jurisdictions, Abp. John called for visible unity among Orthodox Christians. “The world needs to see us together—we need a visible unity,” he said, urging deeper dialogue and collaboration as a witness to the Gospel.
A graduate of Hellenic College Holy Cross, Abp. John will deliver the keynote address at an international conference honoring his predecessor, Abp. Anastasios of Albania, reflecting his ongoing commitment to mission and renewal.
