Hawaiian Iveron Icon to Visit Orthodox Parishes Across Midwest and East Coast
The myrrh-streaming Hawaiian Iveron Icon will visit Orthodox communities in Illinois, Ohio, and New Jersey from September 5-12.
WILLOWBROOK, IL — The wonderworking and myrrh-streaming Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Mother of God will visit Orthodox communities in Illinois, Ohio, and New Jersey from September 5-12, 2026.
The visitation will begin in Willowbrook, IL, where the icon will arrive at Saints Kiril and Metodij Macedonian Orthodox Church on September 5 at 5:45 p.m., followed by Great Vespers at 6 p.m. The following morning, September 6, the parish will host a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with Metr. Metodij at 10 a.m. The icon will then continue to other Orthodox communities in the Chicago area before traveling eastward. The visitation will provide the faithful with opportunities for prayer and veneration before the renowned icon. The scheduled stops are:
- September 5 — Willowbrook, IL: Saints Kiril and Metodij Macedonian Orthodox Church; arrival at 5:45 p.m., followed by Great Vespers at 6 p.m.
- September 6 — Willowbrook, IL: Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with Metropolitan Metodij at 10 a.m.
- September 7 — Des Plaines, IL: Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral; Vigil at 6:30 p.m.
- September 8 — Des Plaines and Chicago, IL: Divine Liturgy at 8 a.m.; blessing at St. Sava’s Academy at 1:30 p.m.; Moleben and Akathist at St. Stephen of Dečani Serbian Orthodox Church at 6:05 p.m.
- September 9 — Parma, OH: St. Sergius Orthodox Cathedral; Moleben and Akathist at 6:30 p.m.
- September 10 — Akron, OH: St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church; Moleben and Akathist at 6:30 p.m.
- September 11 — Howell, NJ: St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral; All-Night Vigil at 5 p.m.
- September 12 — Howell, NJ: Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with the Metropolitan at 9 a.m.
Previously, the UOJ reported that the Hawaiian Iveron myrrh-streaming icon blessed patients at Sofia Hospital.
