Chicago Metropolis Receives $477,080 in Hellenic Foundation Grants
Hellenic Foundation grants empower Chicago Metropolis ministries and local parishes across the Midwest.
LOMBARD, IL — The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago has received substantial support from the Hellenic Foundation, totaling $477,080, representing 60% of the foundation’s 2025 Grant Program, which runs through December 2026. The funding supports both central ministries and local parish programs throughout the Midwest.
His Eminence Metr. Nathanael of Chicago expressed gratitude for the partnership, noting that the grants will enhance the Metropolis’ outreach to families, youth, educators, and vulnerable populations. Central ministries awarded under direct Metropolis support include Lighthouse ($75,000), Project HOPE ($20,000), Family Synaxis ($15,000), Young Adult League Conference ($15,000), St. Iakovos Retreat Center – Bright Friday ($9,400), Greek Education Seminar ($5,000), and the Annual Religious Education Conference ($3,650).
Indirect support totaling $334,030 benefits local communities through parish programs, day schools, Greek schools, and Philoptochos chapters. Metr. Nathanael emphasized the foundation’s role as a discerning partner, helping the Church actively meet the needs of its faithful with support and grace.
