The Armenian Church has condemned Azerbaijan's conducted "anti-terrorist operation" in Nagorno-Karabakh, referring to Baku's actions as a "genocide". The corresponding statement was published on the website of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

They noted that after the start of the "military operation", Azerbaijan shelled peaceful settlements in Artsakh, targeting the capital of the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Stepanakert.

"We strongly condemn this next hostile action of Azerbaijan and call on all international structures to restrain the authorities of Azerbaijan and adequately respond to the genocidal actions of Azerbaijan," the press service of the Armenian Church stated.

On September 19, 2023, Baku announced the commencement of "local anti-terrorist measures" aimed at ensuring and restoring Azerbaijan's constitutional order.

As reported, Azerbaijan promised to protect the Christian shrines of Nagorno-Karabakh.
