American attorney Robert Amsterdam stated that the Ukrainian government should return to the rule of law and withdraw draft law No. 8371, which provides for the ban on the UOC.
UOC attorney from the United States, Robert Amsterdam, declared that the draft law proposing the ban on the UOC, which was approved by the Verkhovna Rada in the first reading, should be withdrawn from the parliament. He made this statement to Holos Ameryky.
The lawyer noted that draft law No. 8371, which envisages the ban on an entire denomination, is illegal and contradicts international law and the interests of Ukraine.
He said that as someone who supports Ukraine, he is rather disappointed that this government proposed to the Rada a law that so contradicts the legislation and international practice! The Ukrainian government should return to the rule of law," he said.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the UN recommended that Ukraine revise the law banning the UOC.
